Overview

A friend reached out wanting to take her shopping business online, and she needed something real rather than a mockup. I built her a full storefront: product catalogue, cart, Stripe checkout, order tracking, and an admin panel so she can manage her own products without calling me every time something changes. The build is finished and she's happy with it — she just hasn't gone live publicly yet, so the preview here points at the deployed staging build. I'll swap in the real link the day she launches. I was hungry for real projects at the time, and this one taught me a lot, mostly about payments and keeping order state correct.

Highlights

  • Catalogue & categories — browsable listings with dedicated category and product pages
  • Cart & Stripe checkout — a persistent cart flowing into Stripe, with success and cancel states properly handled
  • Order tracking — per-order pages a customer can return to by order number
  • Self-serve admin — Payload CMS, so she manages products, media, and orders herself
  • Payments verified server-side — Stripe webhooks reconcile payment state instead of trusting the redirect
  • Accounts — email and Google sign-in, light and dark mode throughout

Stack

  • Next.js 16 with App Router
  • Payload CMS 3.x for content and admin
  • PostgreSQL with Drizzle ORM
  • Better Auth (email + Google OAuth)
  • Stripe Checkout with webhooks
  • Vercel Blob for media uploads
  • Tailwind CSS + shadcn/ui
